These engines (designated 23L) had Bosch Electronic Diesel Control systems, where the mechanical injector system was controlled by a drive-by-wire electronic throttle to reduce emissions. The 300Tdi was replaced in 1998 by the 5-cylinder Td5, bringing to an end the line of Land Rover 4-cylinder engines that can be traced back to 1957.

Posted May 21, 2017. So I have pressure in my 300TDi crankcase, done a pressure test and getting 400-450psi on all the pistons with a warm engine. So changed the head gasket (didn't have the head pressure tested or skimmed though) however there's still pressure in the crank case. Yes, it is done & fits, 200Tdi heads are no longer available new & IIRC Turners use 300Tdi heads on remanufactured 200Tdi engines if the original head is damaged beyond repair. .
