RRC and disco diffs are the same ratio (3.54, compared with the 4.71 of series diffs) ad's of 3.54 are that the engine speed is lower at higher speeds, better MPG, however low box is affected, and the handbrake isnt as efficient. Jan 11, 2007. #3. Not an easy answer but : 300 tdi not so complex, a lot of issues can be dealt with by self or a reasonably competent garage. MPG better than TD5 in my experience, 30 + can be achieved whereas TD5 struggles to better 25. Problems : All the tdi cambelt issues should be fixed by now, gearboxes are basically the same so same issues.
Easiest option is to source a Defender R380 then the chassis can be ordered factory 300. The disco box is the same as a Defender box more or less Except the disco box has a longer input shaft and a longer bell housing to suit. If you can source a shorty Defender bell housing and a Defender input shaft you could get a disco box rebuilt to

Oct 22, 2010. #3. there are good and bad with every manufacturer but the benefit you have with a lr is the parts prices are very reasonable. if you keep it well serviced/maintained it should be a good car and theres lots of help on here if you should run into trouble.
Trekker. Oct 7, 2010. #2. If it was me I'd go for the best, unmolested, unmessed with Defender I could find 200Tdi is more agricutrial 300Tdi is quieter, smoother and easier to work on. Especially when doing cambelts etc etc. Both are as good as each other. I wouldn't rule out Td5's either, as they within your price range. Smoking 300 TDI. * CAUSE FOUND * markgenesis. Only 135,000 miles on the engine, be surprised if the bores and valve guides have worn. Compression test would be a good idea, not got the kit for that so may give it to a garage. 72 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. 95 BMW E34 525i Manual. And I won't sit down.

These engines (designated 23L) had Bosch Electronic Diesel Control systems, where the mechanical injector system was controlled by a drive-by-wire electronic throttle to reduce emissions. The 300Tdi was replaced in 1998 by the 5-cylinder Td5, bringing to an end the line of Land Rover 4-cylinder engines that can be traced back to 1957.

Posted March 9, 2008. Driving home from work, my Discovery's engine temepature shot up to the red. I pulled over and found the expansion tank full to the top, and cold, so was the top radiator hose and the thin pipes to the expansion tank. Opened the bleed screws, and with a blurp the water was sucked back into the system, the temperature went
After the Death Valley towing trip (working the engine hard seems to increase DEF consumption), the Disco asked for more fluid, and we went back to Land Rover South Bay, who charged us $165 for a

Jan 28, 2015. #1. Hi again. I started a thread on this some time back, my 300tdi refuses to start every single morning. Fuel seemed the obvious issue, or more the ingress of air into the fuel system overnight. She will turn over strongly, but just not fire. If I squirt some easystart into the airbox, she fires immediately, does not splutter or

Posted May 21, 2017. So I have pressure in my 300TDi crankcase, done a pressure test and getting 400-450psi on all the pistons with a warm engine. So changed the head gasket (didn't have the head pressure tested or skimmed though) however there's still pressure in the crank case. This would make me think piston rings but as it's getting pretty
